Features 50 Workplaces That Built Trust-based Work Cultures

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (October 18, 2011)The 8th Annual Great Place to Work® Rankings: 50 Best Small & Medium Workplaces Presented by Entrepreneur® was announced today. This national list features companies with a workforce between 25 to 999 and whose employees overwhelmingly agree with the statement: “all things considered, this is a great place to work.”  The #1 Medium Workplace is Wisconsin-based, financial services and insurance company, ACUITY and the #1 Small Workplace is Virginia-based online recruitment firm, Snagajob.

sme2011infograph-thmbHundreds of small and medium companies applied for a spot on this year’s list. Applicant companies undergo a rigorous assessment that includes administering the Great Place to Work® Trust Index© employee survey and completing an audit of the company’s culture. This assessment process reveals the workplace programs and practices that set a company apart from others across the Nation, and between others on the list. Regardless of their rank, companies that focus on workplace culture tend to perform better financially, enjoy lower employee attrition rates, and see improved communication and greater innovation.

“World-class organizations like the ones on this year’s 50 Best list have developed cultures where every employee has the opportunity to be inspired and empowered to contribute,” said Susan Lucas-Conwell, CEO of Great Place to Work. “When companies focus on building quality relationships based on trust with their employees, this translates to the outside world. Not only do they attract and retain the best talent, they enjoy improved customer service and client retention.”

“The Great Place to Work® Rankings give us the opportunity to celebrate the achievements of companies with outstanding workplace practices that are not only good for employees but good for the bottom line. We hope to bring attention to their ideas to inspire other business owners with unique ways to engage their own employees and build success,” said Laura Lorber, executive online editor for Entrepreneur.com.
