What you should know

For more than 30 years, we’ve helped change the way the world works, lives, plays, and learns.

Our vision has never wavered. Not in 1985, 1995, 2005, 2015, and not now.

Along the way, we stay close to shifts in the market, pay close attention to changing economic conditions, keep an eye on new phases of the internet, and always watch out for what’s needed to solve the most important business challenges our customers face.

We solve the challenges of connecting the world to enable the internet. We help people connect to each other using any device from any location (securely, of course). And we are building the backbone for the Internet of Things.

We serve the world. Our strategy to create the right solution for the right customer at the right time leads us to build, buy, partner, invest, or co-develop solutions. We help our customers plan, design, and build solutions.

There are nine product categories that make up our core solutions: analytics and automation, collaboration, data center, Internet of Things (IoT), networking, software, security, video, and wireless.

In the male-dominated tech industry, Cisco supports women in its workforce to develop their leadership skills and increase their impact. One program that supports women in their professional pursuits is JUMP, a nine-month nomination-driven program that focuses on the areas of authentic leadership and strategic thinking.

One JUMP participant describes the positive effect it’s had on her and her motivation, saying, "JUMP created my firework moment…igniting my passion to really go after what I believe in, and also being authentic to myself."

Another woman shares how JUMP helped change her mindset and overcome obstacles. She notes, "JUMP has helped me find my voice, literally and figuratively. I’ve learned that nothing is stopping my path to success except my own lack of conviction and confidence. It was an eye-opening experience that changed the way I behave professionally and personally."

JUMP is just one way Cisco shows its progressive nature – its philosophy and drive to create a caring, high-performance environment keeps employees challenged and driven to thrive. A team member remarks, "To say that Cisco is a progressive company is understating things. Cisco not only assimilates new technology, Cisco leads and is a key contributor to shaping our continually changing the world in which we live, work, play and share. Before I worked for Cisco, I had not encountered a company that cares for its employees as much as Cisco. I have had some critical medical issues and, working for Cisco, I felt as though I had a "big brother" who cared for me as my health changed. All in all, Cisco has helped me be a better person, and I continually strive to better myself because that is the way things should be."

Development opportunities for all abound at Cisco, ensuring that people feel challenged to keep growing and improving. Opportunities like team assignments, job swaps, time swaps, and stretch assignments foster an environment where people continue to ask "what’s next?"
