Giving Thanks to Employees
In the hustle to get ready for the holidays, most employees are overwhelmed by both work and family commitments. Employees are excited for the upcoming time off, but they are also working double time to get everything done in time. This is why it is more important than ever to make sure everyone feels appreciated and recognized for their efforts before they leave for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Best Companies are known for their exceptional workplace practices, but the following companies take home the gold when it comes to employee recognition:
Ranking at #23 on this year’s Best Small & Medium Workplaces list is Professional Placement Resources, a company that sources, screens, recruits, and selects talent. The CEO of the company, Dwight Cooper, designates certain Thursdays as "Thank you Thursdays" and asks employees to send a specific number of thank you cards to their co-workers and customers. This practice not only lets employees know their efforts are appreciated, but helps to foster a culture of appreciation where everyone is engaged in the process. Additionally, the company loves a good game of Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader? and often plays Bingo over the intercom after distributing bingo cards to employees via email. Winners are awarded with prizes and gift cards to both recognize employees for their hard work, and to have a little fun while they are at it.
On that note, all of us here at Great Place to Work would like to thank you for all of the hard work you put into creating a healthy, happy workplace for your fellow coworkers. Be sure to check in regularly for more Best Practices from Best Companies!
