Best Small & Medium Companies
to Work for in America
Nomination and Application Process
What happens after I submit my nomination?
After you have completed the online nomination form
- After the nomination deadline, the Best Companies Team will review all the nominations and notify you in September as to whether or not your company is eligible and invited to participate in this year’s survey and selection process.
- If we have questions about your nomination form, we will contact you after the nomination deadline, during our eligibility review.
What steps are included in the survey and selection process?
After accepting our invitation to move forward in the survey and selection process, each company must:
- Per our guidelines, administer an employee survey (Great Place to Work® Trust Index©) to approximately 300 randomly selected employees – if the company has more than 300 U.S. employees; OR to all employees – if the company has less than 300 U.S. employees.
- The survey takes employees about 15 minutes to complete, and employees either return it to us in a postage-paid envelope or submit their answers online.
- Complete the Great Place to Work® Culture Audit© questionnaire, which asks detailed questions about your company’s demographic makeup, pay, benefits and time-off programs, and open-ended questions about the company’s hiring and on-boarding philosophy, internal communications, professional development opportunities, compensation practices, diversity programs, etc.
- Send us other relevant supplementary materials to further convey why your company is an outstanding place to work. For example, employee handbooks, orientation and recruiting materials, employee newsletters, photos of employee events, recruiting videos/DVDs, etc. are helpful for us during our evaluation of your company's culture.
