How Best Workplaces™ care for their employees
Hilton is a leading global hospitality company
COVID-19’s heavy toll on the hospitality industry caused many companies to ruthlessly cut costs and focus on survival. At Hilton, the pandemic instead became an opportunity to lead with care and compassion.
The company’s commitment to “Travel with Purpose” shone through in how it took care of those hit hard by COVID-19. Hilton made 1 million free nights available to medical professionals, activated its Team Member Assistance Fund to help employees in need, and provided $1 million in funding to severely impacted communities through its Hilton Effect Foundation.
Hilton also looked beyond COVID to the long-term impact its operation has on the world. The company, aiming to reduce carbon output 61% by 2030, now sources 100% renewable energy at most UK hotels and is rolling out renewable energy options for U.S. hotels.
Adobe helps customers design and deliver exceptional experiences
The past few years have seen a dramatic shift in how people view work, with many shifting to remote work, starting side projects, and even switching careers entirely. Adobe’s approach to their employees and their users demonstrates remarkable thoughtfulness and care.
Adobe takes great pride in supporting the creative community. Its Creative Residency Community Fund supports creators by funding their projects, while Adobe Digital Academy creates apprenticeship opportunities. Nonprofits around the world felt Adobe’s care through the $24 million in software donations it made in 2021.
The company also takes a stand on sustainability in its operations and through advocacy. Adobe sourced nearly 50% of its electricity via renewables in 2020, and anticipates sourcing over 70% via renewables in 2022.
Bitwise Industries connects students to meaningful tech opportunities
Caring runs through Bitwise’s DNA: Since 2013, the company has worked to provide pathways into the technology industry for underrepresented, underserved communities. When COVID-19 struck, that caring identity directed the company’s actions toward team members and the local community.
Bitwise recognized early that the pandemic would create unique challenges for employees. They moved every employee to 60% time, meaning that employees would receive 100% of their regular full-time pay while working only 60% as many hours as they had before the pandemic.
Knowing that people outside the company would not get such treatment, Bitwise poured time and resources into its Take Care initiative, which helped deliver over 200,000 meals to thousands of families in need across California’s Central Valley.
