I love the sense of family and support from my co-workers. When life happens, I’ve never not felt supported or picked up from my co-workers and management. The sense of caring about me as an individual is always present. For example, when my grandmother died, Delta went out of its way to help me bring her body home to be with my late grandfather. They gave me time off and then honored her during transit on a Delta aircraft with full honors in remembrance of her husband’s and late son’s service to our country. When I’ve had life events get in the way of work obligations, fellow workers were there and picked up my duties so I could be with family. And I’ve done the same in return. Finally, in taking care of our customers you can see the pride in what we do. I had a Flight Attendant bring up to my attention during the holidays that a passenger was upset. I found out she was attempting to fly home to London from Orlando to be with her terminally ill mom who was on her deathbed. Unfortunately, weather had delayed our departure in Orlando. I made a few calls and found out who the crew was that was flying from Atlanta to London. I made them aware of the situation, as well as dispatch at our flight operations center. Together, we made the decision to hold the London flight for our arrival in Atlanta, so that she would not miss it. Additionally, a uniformed Delta employee who was on the flight gave up his seat in Comfort Plus to allow the upset passenger to be closer to the exit. I went back to meet her and explained all the steps Delta was taking to ensure she got to London in time to see her mom. Upon arrival in Atlanta, a red coat met her and escorted her personally to her waiting aircraft to go to London. Together, it shows how the whole Delta family united around our passenger to give her the support and care she deserved.

This is a company that truly puts employees first. Yes, we are a grocery company, but more than that, we are a people company. Wegmans provides numerous opportunities to learn and grow, not only at work, but in life. Whether through training seminars, LiveWell resources, scholarships, mentoring, etc., Wegmans supports its people like no other. Wegmans provides flexible work-life balance. My manager has never once made me feel poorly about having to leave work to pick up a sick child, take a few days off to care for a family member, or fulfill any other personal obligation. She always says: "Be where you need to be." Anytime an employee gets injured (whether at work or not) or suffers any kind of loss, Wegmans immediately springs into action to provide that employee with a meal, a kind word, and oftentimes extra financial support so they don't have to "go without" during hard times. After a devastating accident outside of work, Wegmans supplemented my income, provided me and my family with a meal on a number of occasions, and checked in on me as a person frequently while I was away from work. All of these wonderful actions are done quietly, never bragged about, simply because it's the right thing to do to look out for each other.

My colleagues have become some of my closest friends and community, always looking out for me and my family. One day, while working on a job site alone because my coworkers were out of town, I received a call from my brother in the midafternoon. He told me that our dad had just had a heart attack and was in the hospital. I was in shock and stressed about what to do with the job, knowing I needed to see my dad. I called my project manager, who immediately told me to leave and take care of my dad. Later that evening, I learned that a coworker from corporate had come by to supervise and close up the site. While most people would understand such situations, the support from my team and others at Camden during this difficult time meant the world to me, and I will always be grateful for it.

Every morning that I work here, I am always greeted with good mornings and "hello" with wide smiles and people who genuinely ask how I am feeling and if I'm okay. One of the unique benefits here are the employee benefits that I do actively use such as vision and dental. I haven't gotten my eyes checked in years due to high pricing and no insurance and because of Publix, the first year working here, I was able to get my eyes checked and was able to receive new glasses after 8 years. Another unique thing about working at Publix is how caring the managers are here. No matter what problem you may have whether it's at work or a personal home problem, my manager is very quick to listen to every word and help me come up with a solution. Again, at other places that I have worked before, managers did not tend to care so I greatly appreciate every manager at Publix who listens and helps not just me but my coworkers around me.

It is hard to summarize the culture we have at Hilton. New team members who have been in the industry for years consistently comment about how welcoming and comfortable they feel right from the beginning. My one child is in the military, and being able to travel frequently to see him and stay in a hotel has been a life-saver. Also, my direct manager and co-workers supported me as I worked from the hospital and hotel while staying to support my husband for treatment. The initial stay was six months. After that it was monthly trips for approximately a year with follow-up visits on a scheduled basis. Without this support I would not have been able to keep my job and wonderful benefits. For instance, after a recent earnings call when stock price went down, they immediately hosted a companywide call ("Beyond the Numbers") to discuss what earnings mean; hosted an all hands Cisco Beat about actions we can all take, and also empowered people leaders with talking points for their teams. They also take an innovative approach to talent development. For instance, after a recent talent review when I was recognized as an AI superuser, I was partnered with a VP in my org for a reverse mentorship program in which I can help build up their own AI skills. I've never heard of such an approach, and this is a great way for me to build my own reputation, exposure, and skillset.

Everyone is so considerate of my presence and they truly take care of me as if I'm a part of the family. I'm 4'11 so anyone taller than me always assists me or lends a hand when my hands are full. I appreciate and admire that about the people I work with. Whenever I hear someone going through something tough in their personal life, I see someone talk to them and reassure them it's going to be ok and that it's going to work itself out, they'll get through it and that they've got their back if they ever need anything. I hardly ever see that in any other workplace because they usually brush it off or tend to avoid the person but this place truly cares. They have helped support me when I am sick and allow me to take the time I need, whether it's for illness or just personal PTO. I do not think that I could find a team anywhere else that genuinely cares about me as a person as much as my team at Kimley-Horn does. Kimley-Horn is also very transparent about financials - both its profits and how much we charge for our services. In talking to other professionals in the industry, they do not know how fees for professional services are developed or what their margins for profits and overhead are. I think Kimley-Horn does an excellent job at teaching almost all employees about the business of consulting, as well as the technical side of everyone's role.
